Our History

A proud and enduring place in Wodonga’s history.

Bandiana Primary School holds a proud and enduring place in Wodonga’s history. Established on 18 February 1952 at 44 Leumeah Road, the school was built to serve families connected to the Bandiana Army Base — a significant logistics centre since World War II. This unique connection shaped the identity of the school as a Victorian government school located on Commonwealth land, grounded in values of service, resilience, and strong community.

For over seventy years, Bandiana Primary School was more than a place of learning. It was a close-knit community where generations of students, families, and staff came together to create a culture defined by care, belonging, and shared purpose. The original 1950s classrooms, reflected a rich history filled with learning, growth, and connection.

As the school evolved, it embraced change while maintaining its strong foundations. In 2012, modern learning spaces were introduced alongside the original buildings, providing contemporary environments that supported creativity, curiosity, and student engagement. Despite these changes, Bandiana always retained its small-school feel and deep sense of community.

The school’s motto, “Ever My Best,” has long guided its students and staff, encouraging a commitment to effort, integrity, and pride in all endeavours. This philosophy, alongside a strong emphasis on the arts, outdoor learning, and student voice, helped shape confident, creative, and resilient learners.

In 2026, the Bandiana community entered a new chapter with the transition to Kerribana Primary School on Frederic Road, Wodonga. While the location has changed, the legacy of Bandiana continues to live on.

At Kerribana, we honour this history by carrying forward the values, traditions, and strong sense of community that defined Bandiana Primary School. The spirit of connection, belonging, and striving for one’s best remains at the heart of who we are.
